Upper panels: mass versus semi-major axis diagrams for the nominal model. The mass of the primary is equal to 0.5 M⊙ (left panel), 1.0 M⊙ (central panel), and 2.0 M⊙ (right panel). Middle panels: mass versus semi-major axis diagrams for the nominal model, as can be detected with a spectrograph with an accuracy of 10m/s, and with a period shorter than 5 years. The masses of the primary are the same as in upper panels. For each planet, the inclination angle between the line of sight and the orbital plane is chosen at random, to compute the resulting Doppler shift. Lower panels: as middle panels, but for a spectrograph with an accuracy of 1m/s, and a period shorter than 5 years. In all the diagrams, planets crossing the inner boundary of the calculated disk are assumed to stay at 0.1 AU. The number of synthetic planets is equal to 30ÃŮ 000 for each primary mass.
