Parameters of the background models used. The photon noise level d is given in ppm $/\sqrt {\mu {\rm Hz}}$, while the background amplitudes ai are given in ppm$^2/\mu $Hz, and the time-scales bi in 106 s. Three components were used for the Sun-like cases but 2 only for the red giant case.
