An attempt to check homogeneity at large scales by using galaxy samples
CRIP RMKI, Bp. 114, Pf. 49, 1525 Budapest, Hungary
Accepted: 9 March 2007
Aims. A statistical method is applied to galaxy samples to search for possible repetitions on 100 Mpc scales.
Methods. The method is based on autocorrelations, and is constructed in such a way that it does not detect structures of changing scales.
Results. The signal for non-randomness is moderate but significant. This result argues for homogeneity well above 300 Mpc scales.
Key words: large-scale structure of Universe / distance scale / cosmological parameters
