Generation of radiative knots in a randomly pulsed protostellar jet. II. X-ray emission

Bonito et al. present a series of pulsed jet models using 2D axisymmetric, hydrodynamic simulations of the interaction between a supersonic jet and the ambient medium. The mutual interactions among the jet-ejected blobs and the ambient medium are shown to lead to X-ray emitting structures within the jet. The model predicts the X-ray emission from Herbig Haro (HH) jets and should prove useful for future X-ray observations of HH jets that have already been detected, perhaps leading to a renewal of interest in these objects.
