Relaxed equilibrium configurations to model fossil fields. I. A first family

by V. Duez and S. Mathis A&A 517, A58 alt

The authors show how the incompressible cases previously studied for force-free interior fields can be extended to the incompressible cases. The results agree with numerical simulations. While rather technical, the bottom line is important. This is one analytical approach to field structures inside a wide range of stars with very different equations of state. It could be pointed out that this family of solutions can prove ideal starting points for more in-depth and computationally extensive realistic simulations.
