The role of convection, overshoot, and gravity waves for the transport of dust in M dwarf and brown dwarf atmospheres

by B. Freytag, F. Allard, H.G. Ludwig, D. Homeier, and M. Steffen, A&A 513, A19

The authors present a first look at 2D hydrodynamical models of dust transport in the atmospheres of brown dwarfs. They identify convectively excited gravity waves as an essential mixing process in M dwarf and brown dwarf atmospheres.
