The energy flux is calculated as F=12ρv2VAMathematical equation: $\[F=\frac{1}{2} \rho v^{2} V_{\mathrm{A}}\]$, assuming an Alfvén speed of VA = 200 km s−1 and a spicule density of ρ = 5 × 10−10 kg m−3 (De Pontieu et al. 2007c). Uncertainties in the mean values are estimated through standard error propagation using the SST pixel scale and temporal cadence.
