Line of sight absorption of the transiting planet in front of the stellar disk at mid-transit. The absorption level indicates the amount of flux from the local stellar cell that is absorbed. The black dashed line corresponds to the exobase and the orange dashed line to the Roche lobe. Outside the stellar surface, there is no flux occultation so no absorption is seen.
