Illumination function of the parabolic taper on a pedestal; see Eq. (14). The four curves are centered on the origin with same amplitude ( $A_{E_{a}} = 1$ ${A_{{E_{\rm{a}}}}} = 1$ ) and q = 2. From top to bottom, the taper values are −8 dB, −10 dB,−12dB and −14dB.
