Degree of linear polarization and angle of linear polarization of our target sources (red) and measurements by Covino et al. (1997) using background stars behind the Cha I cloud (gray). Optical measurements by Covino et al. (1997) were extrapolated to the near-infrared regime by Serkowski’s law. Polarization vectors are overlayed on a Herschel/SPIRE image at 160 µm showing the dust in the Cha I cloud.
