Table 1
Backscattering efficiency of solar wind H+ on small bodies in the Solar System.
Object | Efficiency 𝓡 [%] | Reference |
---|---|---|
Moon | 0.1–1 | Lue et al. (2014) |
Moon | 0.3–0.5 | Lue et al. (2018) |
Phobos | 0.5–10 | Futaana et al. (2010)(a) |
67P/C-G | <0.09 | This study |
Notes. (a)Deniau et al. (2022) reported no evidence of backscattered solar wind H+ from Phobos. An upper limit of the differential directional energy flux is given as 106 eV cm−2s−1 sr−1 eV−1. Similarly, Futaana et al. (2021) reported observations from two Mars Express flybys (out of more than a dozen) of H+ potentially coming from Phobos’ surface. However, the sporadic nature of the observations remains unexplained.
Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.
Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.
