K_s magnitude and H − K_s colors of 125 new massive ℳ > 10¹¹ ℳ_⊙ galaxy candidates 3.0 < z ≤ 5.5 found in COSMOS2020 (orange), relative to the total sample used in this work (gray) and the 444 galaxies found in COSMOS2015 (blue). Measurements are taken from COSMOS2020, although they are similar to those from COSMOS2015, where matched. Number densities are summarised using gaussian kernel density estimators to produce smoothed distributions and contours for each sample. Median K_s and H − K_s values for each sample are shown by colored dotted lines.
