Modified PINAB defined in Eq. (1) as a function of measured energy divided by the energy loss in the first detector. The gap in PINAB between 1 and 19 separates electrons from ions, and data for this range are not transmitted. At larger PINs, the tracks of hydrogen, helium, CNO, and other heavy elements can be identified.
