Illustration of the three morphologies. For the LPS or ejection, we see that it is the magnetic field lines themselves that form an independent loop and travel away from the limb. For the spike and loop morphologies, the ejected mass follows the magnetic field lines. In the case of the loop, the ejected mass follows the magnetic field lines all the way around the loop, while for the spike we only observe them to follow it partially.
