Examples of the resulting small-scale filamentary streams detected with DisPerSE (blue lines) for the same galaxies as in Fig. 1. The red spheres correspond to spheres with a radius R200 of the galaxy host FoF halo. For illustration, the black points represent a random sub-sample (1/1000) of the DM particle distribution in the sub-box, but the filaments were detected from 3D grids of the DM density field, as described in Sect. 3.2.
