AllWISE W4 (22 μm) grey-scale image of M16 and the surrounding region in Galactic coordinates. We show the current position of the runaways found outside M16 also shown in Fig. 7 adopting similar colours. We trace back the motion of these runaways relative to the cluster. UCAC2 27149134 and BD–14° 5040 have a clear bowshock which we show in Appendix A. We show for context the position of the O stars with the red crosses and indicate the position of NGC6604 and M17.
