Relative error of the estimated surface rotation rate as a function of the core-to-surface ratio, Ωcoresurf. The upper and lower panels show results for the envelope step and the convective power law profile, respectively. The eMOLA results are shown in dark red, and the MOLA results are shown in light red. The dotted grey line refers to the ratio obtained with the core and surface rotation rates of 750 nHz/100 nHz used throughout this paper. It should be noted that the vertical axis differs in the upper and lower panels. In case of the envelope step profile, the relative errors from eMOLA remain negligibly small for the range of core-to-surface ratios investigated.
