Setup of the experiment, conducted at LULI2000 by having two high-power lasers (1 ns, 100 J at 1ω, 1.6 × 1013 W cm−2 on target) irradiate two solid (Teflon, C2F4) targets to investigate the interpenetration of two magnetized shocks. An auxiliary beam of 15 J was used to perform Thomson scattering (TS) and an additional low-energy beam (not shown) probed the plasma along a line titled 9° upwards with respect to the z-axis in order to measure the integrated plasma electron density.
