Absorption optical thicknesses of the various gases in our model atmosphere, computed by taking the natural logarithm of the 1 nm bin averaged direct line-by-line transmittance of each absorbing gas (see, e.g., Eq. (1) of Irwin et al. 2008). In our computations, we do not use these values directly, instead we use 10 k-distribution Gauss points in each 1 nm wide wavelength bin (see the text for more details).
