Panoramic view of the Cygnus OB2/Cygnus X complex obtained by the Spitzer Space Telescope, with our two targets indicated. The blue, green and red channels correspond to emission in the 3.6, 5.8, and 24 μm bands. The area covered is 4° 6 × 3° 2. The image highlights the distribution of warm dust in the region around the stars of Cygnus OB2, which is located near the center of the image and has a radius ∼1°. The image clearly shows the effect of the erosion produced by the O stars in Cygnus OB2 on the surrounding interstear medium, producing a cavity where some isolated globules, among them DR 18 and ECX 6-21, persist. The images were obtained for the Cygnus-X Spitzer Legacy Survey (Beerer et al. 2010).
