HST filter transmission curves (ACS F606W in yellow, ACS F814W in cyan, WFC3 F105W in magenta) and representative spectra of star-forming galaxies at z ∼ 5.3 (Lyα absorber in red, Lyα emitter with a small, intermediate, and large EW(Lyα) in green, blue, black, respectively from Shapley et al. 2003). We corrected all the representative spectra for the intergalactic-medium absorption at z = 5.3 by assuming the formalism in Madau (1995), before using them.
