Table 1.

Selection criteria applied to Gaia DR2 to define blue horizontal-branch star candidate selection from colour and absolute G magnitude (parallax selection).

Initial Gaia CMD criteria:
−0.1 ≤ (GBP − GRP)≤0.83
−1 ≤ Gabs ≤ 5

Final Gaia CMD criteria:

−0.1 < (GBP − GRP)< 0.53
−1 < Gabs < (2.5 − 2.77(GBP − GRP))

Modified Lindegren et al. (2018) criteria for astrometric quality:

parallax > 0
parallax_over_error > 5

Modified Lindegren et al. (2018) criteria for photometric quality:

phot_bp_mean_flux_over_error > 10
phot_rp_mean_flux_over_error > 10
phot_bp_rp_excess_factor > 1.0 + 0.015(GBP − GRP)2
phot_bp_rp_excess_factor < 1.3 + 0.06(GBP − GRP)2

Stringent halo selection criteria:

VT > 200 km s−1
|b|> 60°

Crowded region criteria of
> 50 000 stars within 1 deg2 for:

Galactic plane:
(−25° < b < 25°)

Large Magellanic Cloud:
274.5° < l < 286.5° and −37.9° < b < −27.9°

Small Magellanic Cloud:
299.8° < l < 305.8° and −46.3° < b < −42.3°

Close apparent neighbour criterion:

No apparent neighbour within 5 arcsec

Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.

Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.

Initial download of the metrics may take a while.
