Time evolution of the number of spurious detections in the Gaia EDR3 data segments. The number of spurious detections increases when the spacecraft scans the Galactic plane, as expected, and the major discontinuity at revolution 3750 is related to the change in parameters of the onboard detection algorithm (VPU update). The sharp dips are due to interruptions in the detections, and the sharp rises are related to spacecraft events.
