Table 2.

Different throughput terms that are important for the SCAR coronagraph.

Throughput term Typical values
Theoretical
   Geometric lenslet throughput ∼80%
   Fiber injection losses 90%−95%
   Planet location 50%−100%
   Phase plate Strehl reduction 60%−80%
   Total ∼41%

Experimental
   Phase plate transmission > 85%
Fresnel losses on the fiber ∼90%
   Microlens transmission > 95%
Strehl ratio of the AO system ∼50%
   Total ⪆36%

Total ⪆14%

Notes. A distinction is made between theoretical and experimental terms. Experimental throughput terms will be non-existent with perfect manufacturing, while theoretical throughput terms are unavoidable. Typical values in the visible are shown for each term. The values for the experimental throughput terms are indicative of current technology performance and may increase as technology matures.

Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.

Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.

Initial download of the metrics may take a while.
