Panel a: separatrix field-lines rooted in a bald patch, which outline a small non-eruptive flux rope that results from the splitting of the initial flux-rope in the early phase of the eruption. Panel b: field lines which belong to low-Q shear-driven QSLs, which are located on the edge of the main QSLs that surround the erupting flux rope. In both panels a large vertical stretching factor was applied for a better rendering of the geometry of these relatively low-lying and flat structures.
