Atoms learned in the multiscale dictionary learning approach: on the left, scale 3, on the right, scale 2. The dictionaries have departed from the original redundant DCT dictionary and have learned specific features related to the scale. Due to the change of the Nside parameter with the scale, the actual distance between two adjacent pixels has increased, and the atoms for scale 2 are indeed smoother than those for scale 3.
