Photograph of the left side of the telescope with the lasers in operation. The launch beam path from the exit to the first fold mirror is enclosed in a beam tube for safety and light scattering reasons. Between the first fold mirror and the mirror behind the adaptive secondary the beam is propagated in free air above the primary mirrors. From the mirror behind the secondary the laser bundle is launched to sky, forming the beacon constellation at a distance of 12 km.
