Planet formation tracks for the four accretion models. The reason for the step-like evolution of the low-mass planet is that the radial evolution of the planet was dictated by planet-trapping at the water ice line, and therefore depended on the resolution of our disk model. The water ice line sometimes does not move between time steps, hence neither does the planet.
