Illustrative example of the decomposition with iFit of the SDSS r-band SBP of the LTG NGC 0776 (cf. Fig. 5) into bulge, bar and disk (red, magenta and blue, respectively). The bulge and bar are approximated by a Sérsic model, and the down-bending (type ii) disk by a pure exponential fitted to intermediate radii (1 ≤ RReff ≤ 2.1, where Reff denotes the radius enclosing 50% of the total galaxy luminosity). The thick-orange curve shows a single Sérsic fitto the central luminosity excess owing to the bulge. It can be seen that its isophotal radius RB at μ = 24 mag/⊓⊔ ′′ (dashed-dotted vertical line) determined from a single-Sérsic model closely matches the one read off the figure for the case of full bulge-bar-disk decomposition.
