Evolution of the hydrogen slope dX∕dQ of a 40 M⊙ model as a function of stellar radius. As in Figs. 1 and 4, the hydrogen burning phase is shown with a thick solid line, the short-lived hydrogen shell burning phase with a dashed line and helium burning with a thin solid line. This sequence was computed adopting the Schwarzschild criterion for convection.
