Synthesized image in linearly polarized light (λ = 2.3 μm) of a simplified dust shell model (a single thin layer containing dust particles with a grain radius of 0.3 μm and no gas). Blue represents the horizontally polarized light. Red represents the vertically polarized light. Just as expected, we observe bright arcs of polarized light where dust grains are situated.
