Fig. 2

Lyα strength versus the escape of ionizing photons from eight galaxies of the local Universe: our five leakers (Izotov et al. 2016a,b), the LBA J0921+4509 (Borthakur et al. 2014), Haro11 and Tol1247(Leitherer et al. 2016), and the high redshift galaxy Ion2 (de Barros et al. 2016; Vanzella et al. 2016b). Left: the Lyα EWs of LCEs seem to correlate with the escape fraction of ionizing photons. The dashed lines show theoretical predictions for the same attenuation in the Lyα line as in the continuum, for an instantaneous burst (upper curve) or a constant star formation history (lower curve). The dotted lines are the same but, for Lyα, ten times more extinguished than the continuum. See text for more details. Right: correlates with , and is generally larger than . The dashed line shows the one-to-one relation.

Current usage metrics show cumulative count of Article Views (full-text article views including HTML views, PDF and ePub downloads, according to the available data) and Abstracts Views on Vision4Press platform.

Data correspond to usage on the plateform after 2015. The current usage metrics is available 48-96 hours after online publication and is updated daily on week days.
