Comparison of the stellar velocity dispersion from the CALIFA survey for the two instrumental setups: V1200 and V500. The dispersions were computed within an aperture of 3′′ diameter (i.e., equivalent to the SDSS fiber aperture). The vertical dashed lines indicate the spectral resolution of the V1200 (σinstr. ~ 72 km s-1) and V500 (σinstr.~ 139 km s-1) setups.
