Observability of the photometric modulation due to thermal phase curves with JWST. The amplitude of the modulation is calculated for a planet with no atmosphere and a Bond albedo of 0.2 and with a radius that scales with the inclination as R ∝ (M/sini)0.27. The noise is computed for a 1 h exposure, a spectral resolution of 10, and the collecting area of the JWST (25 m2).
