Stellar heating rate S⋆ [erg cm-3 s-1] (Eq. (4)) at the equator and θ = 45° latitude, φ = 0°, 45°, 315° longitude as a function of pressure. The heating rate steadily rises up to a maximum at ~10 mbar corresponding to the highest temperature regions at the upper atmosphere. The heating rate drops off rapidly at 100 mbar.
