The data points are for regions towards dark clouds (red; Mattila 1970b,a; Lehtinen & Mattila 1996), the λ Ori dark nebular shell (blue; Morgan 1980) and for the diffuse galactic light (DGL, black; Henyey & Greenstein 1941; Lillie & Witt 1976; Morgan et al. 1976; Laureijs et al. 1987; Hurwitz et al. 1991; Witt et al. 1994, 1997).
