ICA viewing geometry. Each sector is 22.5° wide. The Sun is always within a few degrees of the depicted central viewing plane of RPC-ICA. The illustrated positions of the Sun and comet depict a common situation. Sectors 0 to 3 are not used in this study. They are indicated by a striped shading. The elevation angle of ICA denotes the angle of observed ions beyond the depicted central detector plane.
