z-band light curve, interpolated with the method of Rybicki & Press (1992) and Press et al. (1992). We interpolated using the three models described in Sect. 3.2. For clarity, only the interpolation resulting from the power-law structure function is shown here. This interpolated signal is the least-variance estimate of the stochastic process and therefore very smooth. The error of this prediction is indicated by the shaded gray region. Single realizations of the process have much more structure on short timescales and will also make excursions outside of the estimated error regions.
