Water-ice sputtering yield as a function of electronic stopping power. The result of our measurements (data above 1000 eV/ 10¹⁵H₂O/cm²) are displayed along with the data compiled in Brown et al. (1984, see their Fig. 5 for details on the compiled data) at lower stopping power. The fitted dependence of the yield is given by the dashed line, and the coloured region shows the standard error of estimate on the yield. See text for details.
