[C ii] (blue) and [N ii] (red) spectra at the six positions observed with GREAT along b = 0.̊0. The Galactic longitude and latitude are indicated by GXXX.XX+Y.Y. The two features centered at ~ − 174 km s-1 and ~ − 207 km s-1(which are blended at some positions) arise from the edge of the CMZ. [C ii] is detected at all 6 positions in the CMZ, but [N ii] is only detected at 4 positions. The two non-detections in [N ii] are associated with greater rms noise. While [N ii] is generally much weaker than [C ii], the [N ii] peak temperature at l = 358.̊45 is about half that of [C ii].
