Fig. 19

Probability of an equal-brightness double star (ΔG = 0 mag) being resolved into two local maxima as a function of separation, in units of arcsec, and orientation angle, in units of degrees. The G magnitude of the primary has been fixed at G = 13 mag. This probability does not take the rejection curves into account; in practice, however, the results do not significantly change when applying the optimised rejection parameters. Contours at 5%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 95%, and 99% have been labelled.
