Left panel: one of our model absorption spectra of HD 209458b containing TiO at a VMR of 10-7, normalized to the brightness of the system out of transit and according to the temperature-pressure profile shown on the right, along with the corresponding altitude in units of the planet radius. Throughout this work, we employ this spectrum as a template in various cross-correlation analyses, as well as four similar templates at lower VMRs; and one template at a constant temperature of 3000 K. Note that the form of the assumed T-P profile does not significantly impact the correlation, because the effective temperature of the star is ~6065 K.
