EBHIS column density maps of LVC, IVC, and HVC gas based on the velocity thresholds shown in Fig. 2. The LVC component is rather faint and diffuse, while the IVC is very bright with peak brightness temperatures of 4K. For the HVC, there is hardly any background emission and the HVC has a steep brightness gradient in the eastern direction, towards the IVC.
