Comparison between the mean HE γ-ray (LAT) and optical (R filter) luminosities (upper panel) and fluxes (lower panel) for the analyzed BL Lac objects (see Table 3). In each diagram, the color-coding denotes the luminosity or energy flux in the radio band (15 GHz), depicted in the stripes below the panels. If there is no corresponding radio data, gray is used. Different symbols here are used to denote three different types of BL Lac objects included in the sample, namely HBLs (circles), LBLs (triangles), and LBLs (stars). The formally evaluated correlation coefficients C are provided in the upper left corners of each panel. The error bars are evaluated as described in Sect. 2.4.
