The green arrows show the direction of movement of the LMC centre of mass (at a PA of ~80°) and the expected direction of the gas stripped due to ram pressure towards NW. The red hexagons show the locations of high velocity gas leaving the LMC as observed in Figs. 10 and 11. The labels are given analogous to a1, a2 and a3 in Fig. 11. The location of the SMC is shown. The black arrows shows the possible direction of accreting gas from the MB/SMC. The figure is in the plane of the LMC and the gas is expected to fall into the LMC from behind in a grazing angle.
