The declination is plotted along the ordinate, the right ascension along the abscissa (increasing from zero to 360 degree from the left to right) and the centre of projection is 0°of declination and 180° of right ascension. The lines of right ascension and declination are shown at 30° intervals, and the wavy line shows the projection of the ecliptic onto the celestial sphere. Each positional observation is shown as a light steel-blue point for a given comet, except for the first observation, which is shown as a dark magenta point.
