Maps of synthesized emission (DN cm^-1 s^-1 pix^-1) in the 171 Å channel of the AIA instrument on board of the SDO mission. We show a section of the computational domain at the same times as Fig. 3 (see online supplementary movie for an animated version of this evolution).
