Notation conventions adopted in this paper showing the cross-section of the star projected on the sky. The absolute stellar position angle PAstar is defined from north to east. The slit is represented by the spatial axis Ys, which may not be aligned with the northern axis by an angle PAslit. ψ is the angle formed between the slit axis and the stellar position angle.
