Upper panels: distribution of the galaxy clustering ratio ηg,R(r) obtained by analysing 160 LasDamas mock catalogues simulating the distribution of luminous red galaxies (histograms). The observable ηg,R(r) is computed for the three different smoothing radii R shown on top of each plot and by assuming, furthermore, that r = 3R. The solid line displays the best-fitting Gaussian PDF. Lower panels: the relative deviation between the Gaussian model and the actual distribution of the data is shown.
