Examples of galaxies identified as early-types (E/S0, T-types −5 to −1) by Postman et al. (2005) and how we classified them. The left column shows examples of galaxies that are also identified as early types in our scheme. The top two galaxies of the left column (1172 and 1184) are elliptical and the bottom two (397 and 547) are S0. The middle column shows galaxies that we classify as peculiar: 626 (too disky and Sérsic index too low to be S0), 1146 (possible tidal distortions), 898 (irregular), and 1132 (possible merger). The right column shows galaxies we classify as compact: 347, 511, 1067, and 129. (All examples shown resemble early types but lack a disk or halo.) All images are 5 arcsec by 5 arcsec.
